And its basically just a form of rotoscoping, which is a very old technique from the earliest days of animation. Tracing the outlines of photos and videos and animating over that is not new AT ALL. People have been doing that for over 100 years.

Not sure you should even call it cg, by definition yes it is, but by definition so is pretty much all anime. But we typically refer to a specific type of 3d cg as cg when it comes to anime, this wasn't 3d module based, it was live action with a filter over it and a slapped on face. As its outside their was no greenscreen which is why its all fuzzy around the edges.

its basically just digital rotoscoping. one of the oldest animation techniques, but here its utilizing modern technology.

It was hilarious and i love it. if the whole show was done like that it would be gross, but the sparing comedic use they went with was great. im almost certain it was for deliberate comedic effect. Even in the story of the show, the tractor is SUPPOSED to be jarring, the animation just reinforces the absurdity of the situation.

It remains me of 59 types of anime with this kind of technique of animation some in op/Ed or in some rare episode of the anime. One must be a good observe to notice these kind of rare or unique animation sequences. My most favorite op and animation of all in the top 10 is the op of Maria ✝️ Holic ;)

In the narrative of the show, the appearance of tractors is supposed to be sudden and jarring, the choice to rotoscope and cell shade the equipment in was to highlight the absurdity of the situation. Narratively it totally fits. The tractors are supposed to seem out of place in that world. The art direction is genius and hilarious.

Mitama being able to summon all deities was a surprise but it was amusing how they left when they saw her follower count.

Now that isnt a fair comparison. You can tell the team behind this do care, but the budget is just non existent. Record of Ragnorok was do to the crunchyroll feminists hating male lead harems and so they often half ass and often intentionally butcher them. While the source is not great if you skip the entire first arc and then just jump around a story like that of course it will be bad even though it had a much higher budget than this. That team is also a repeat offender of skipping opening arcs and not caring at all about the source, look at the drugstore isekai they worked on, skipped all introductions and replaced with namecards, replaced entire conversations with the character just repeating the same to words over and over. Most scenes had very basic movements, but then scenes they added and were not from the source they fully animated and spent more time on then things from the source.
This anime is a shame it didn't get enough budget, Ragnorok was actually malicious sabotage.
